Mercyhurst College

Student Conduct

Our campus is in regular session during the month of July. We require that our Foundations Program students observe the same rules of conduct that we require of Mercyhurst’s full time students.

There is a key distinction between conduct violations in high school and in college. In high school students with disabilities are protected by manifestation determination which must be considered for suspension, expulsion or any alternative placement if behavioral concern is being considered. In high schools, IEP teams determine if inappropriate behavior is a manifestation of the student's disability. If behavior is NOT related to disability---student can receive punishment.

However in college, manifestation determination is not recognized. Disability does not trump behavior. Our standards are set by our conduct code. We encourage all Foundation students and their parents to familiarize themselves with our conduct code which will provide the basis for behavioral expectations of Foundations students. A link to Mercyhurst’s student conduct code can be found here.

Students who are in violation of our conduct code will be asked to leave Foundations program.
