Michael T. Victor, J.D., LL.D., brings new energy and a wealth of experience in corporate business and higher education to the Presidency of Mercyhurst University.
Victor began his tenure as President on August 1, 2015, and in just one year has led the university to unprecedented growth and revitalization. In addition to securing the largest and most talented freshman class in Mercyhurst history, Victor directed a number of major accomplishments, including a new student-centered liberal arts core curriculum, a revised academic calendar, major fundraising gains, an energized atmosphere of student life and new campus traditions and camaraderie.
Prior to assuming the Mercyhurst Presidency, Victor was President of Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, and before that, served as Dean of the Walker School of Business at then-Mercyhurst College. An accomplished businessman, Victor also served as co-owner and CEO of Pyramid Industries and as an attorney in the Corporate Law Department of MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton LLP.
Victor received his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law. A noted civic leader in northwestern Pennsylvania, Victor is co-chair of The Victor Group and holds membership in the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership, Rotary Club of Erie and United Way. He and his wife, Craige, reside in Millcreek Township. They are the proud parents of Sloane Victor, Courtney Victor Russ (Colin), Wade Root and Bowman Root; and grandparents to Reagan and Sawyer Russ.
Victor succeeds Thomas J. Gamble, who served as President of Mercyhurst University from 2006 until his retirement in 2015.
