The Flourishing Child
A yearlong observance focusing on the importance of providing healthy lives and positive social experiences for children and youth.
Throughout the 2010-2011 academic year, Mercyhurst College will host a series of events exploring the state of today’s children and youth while also examining policies and community responses intended to improve the quality of their lives.
The Mercyhurst Civic Institute along with many academic departments will look at thought-provoking topics like child poverty and abuse, education and school performance, social and psychological development while also exploring the enrichment of children’s lives through art and music.
Events include panel discussions, lectures, artistic presentations and community forums, all intended to educate and enlighten students, faculty and the community at large on topics relevant to the well-being of children and youth.
“The Flourishing Child” is funded by Mercyhurst Academic Enrichment and Diversity grants as well as other college and community co-sponsors.
We hope that you will take time to enjoy one or more of the events prepared free of charge to the community.
