Fixed Term Instructor in Forensic Anthropology and Forensic Sciences

Description:
The Department of Applied Forensic Sciences at Mercyhurst University seeks to hire a 9-month, fixed term instructor beginning August 2018 for the 2018-2019 academic year. The successful candidate will develop and teach a 2-2 course load of undergraduate classes in forensic and biological anthropology. This candidate will also oversee forensic archaeological recoveries and casework analyses in the laboratory. Additionally, the instructor may have other professional duties related to assisting with the Mercyhurst Donated Body Program, managing equipment and storage, processing human remains, and facilities-related communications. The successful candidate will work closely with both graduate and undergraduate students and will supervise student research. Ideally, this individual will contribute to the academic community through dissemination of research.
The Department of Applied Forensic Sciences at Mercyhurst University is unique, conducting active forensic casework and archaeological recoveries in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. Due to this, in addition to teaching experience (as an instructor or teaching assistant), preferred applicants will have experience with forensic casework, including: creation of a biological profile, expertise in human skeletal biology, photography, knowledge related to forensic archaeological recoveries, and producing professional level case reports.
 
 
Requirements:
1. A minimum of a Master’s degree in Anthropology with a Forensic concentration or a related field
2. Teaching experience, either as an instructor or as a teaching assistant
3. Expertise in human fragmentary osteology and creating a biological profile
4. Experience in all processes related to analyzing and creating a professional level report for forensic cases
