Mercyhurst University will host several events during the week preceding Veterans Day as part of the university’s annual Veterans Tribute held for Mercyhurst, community veterans and their families. Mercyhurst will be recognized as a Purple Heart Institution during a ceremony honoring Purple Heart recipients Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. Bob Hill, commander of Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Chapter 197 Erie, will speak. Retired Brigadier General Pat Genung will speak at a Celebration of Valor on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 3:30 p.m. Both events will be held in the Mercy Heritage Room and are free and open to the public. Festivities will culminate with a tailgate and tribute prior to Mercyhurst's football game with Millersville University on Saturday, Nov. 10. The tailgate party begins at 10:30 a.m. near Tullio Field and is free to veterans and their guests; admission for others is $10.
