MIAC Live: Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra

Thursday, February 4, 2016 - 7:30pm
Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center

Renowned for their winning combination of charming Kiwi humor, disarmingly small ukuleles and sublime musicality, the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra is hailed as New Zealand’s “hottest music/comedy ensemble.” Co-founded by Grammy and Oscar winner Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords fame, WIUO has perfected a formula for joy and lasting magic wherever they go, armed with high-octane ukulele skills, gorgeous vocal harmonies and flamboyant costumes.

The band’s comedic banter is spontaneous, and when they burst into song, the sweet sounds can silence a room in a nanosecond, or bring a crowd of thousands to their feet. Featuring songs made famous by artists such as Justin Timberlake, the Beatles, Cyndi Lauper and Kings of Leon, alongside a traditional South Pacific repertoire, this is ukulele as it’s never been played before.

Tickets are $19 or $22 for adults, $16 or $19 for seniors and military, and $13 or $16 for students and youth. For tickets, call 814-824-3000 or visit
