Combining the virtuosity of world-class artists with the energy of rock stars, Project Trio is breaking down traditional ideas of chamber music. Blending their classical training with an eclectic taste in musical styles, this flute-cello-bass ensemble has made an impact on audiences of all ages. Bring the whole family to the 2 p.m. concert for instrumental music fused with hip-hop, rock and pop to bridge the gap between classical music and pop culture. Kids of all ages will recognize their beatboxing flutist, a Nickelodeon star and Internet sensation with more than 74 million views on YouTube. Later that evening at the 7:30 p.m. concert, Project Trio will showcase their serious classical chops in a more traditional chamber concert.
Arrive early before the 2 p.m. concert for hands-on music activities for kids of all ages from the Mercy Center for the Arts, or sit for a drawing with caricature artist Bryan Toy. Before both concerts, members of the Photographic Art Society of NWPA will display their art in the lobby of Walker Recital Hall.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for students. For tickets, call 814-824-3000 or visit miac.mercyhurst.edu.
