From Cirque du Soleil choreographer Jacques Heim comes Diavolo, a dazzling display of architecture in motion. This Los Angeles-based company explores the interactions between the human body and our architectural environment – how it affects us, not just socially but physically and emotionally. Combining multiple movement vocabularies – including everyday movement, ballet, contemporary, acrobatics, gymnastics, martial arts and hip-hop – Diavolo has created dozens of dance works in a compelling repertoire, and will present two pieces at Mercyhurst. In “Trajectoire,” the performers rock, push and leap from a reeling ship in a visceral and emotional journey through the ebb and flow of the human experience. “Fluid Infinities,” set on an abstract dome structure, investigates the persistence of life through struggle and the promise of life to change beyond the space of time.
