The Mercyhurst Institute for Arts and Culture opens a new season of MIAC Live performances on Thursday, Sept. 28, with Broadway legend Bernadette Peters performing a special concert of signature songs from her illustrious career. A multiple Tony and Grammy Award-winner admired for her peerless performances of Stephen Sondheim's work, Peters has been a radiant presence on Broadway and on the solo concert stage for more than 50 years. Her celebrated performances include starring roles in Into the Woods, Gypsy, Sunday in the Park with George, A Little Night Music, Follies, Song and Dance and Annie Get Your Gun. Her “pet project” Broadway Barks, co-founded with Mary Tyler Moore, is an annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event that benefits shelter animals throughout the New York City area. The community partner for her Erie appearance will be the Humane Society of Northwest Pennsylvania.
