The 15th edition of the Mercyhurst University Literary Festival opens March 23 with a “Dylan Fest” honoring Bob Dylan, who was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition." The event begins with a musical celebration of Dylan’s work at 5:30 p.m., showcasing performances by Mercyhurst faculty, staff, students, and alums, including Jimmy Cuneo, Janelle Newman, Dr. Jeff Roessner, J.P. Sullivan, Dr. Kevin Sullivan, Jim Tometsko & Friends, Sarah Whitaker, and other featured guests. D.A. Pennebaker’s 1967 cinéma vérité masterpiece Don’t Look Back, which chronicles Dylan’s 1965 tour of the U.K., will be shown at 7:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion with faculty members Dr. Chris Magoc and Dr. Jeffrey Roessner.
