The 15th edition of the Mercyhurst University Literary Festival opens March 23 with a “Dylan Fest” honoring Bob Dylan, who was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition." The event begins with a musical celebration of Dylan’s work at 5:30 p.m., showcasing performances by Mercyhurst faculty, staff, students, and alums, including Jimmy Cuneo, Janelle Newman, Dr. Jeff Roessner, J.P. Sullivan, Dr. Kevin Sullivan, Jim Tometsko & Friends, Sarah Whitaker, and other featured guests. D.A. Pennebaker’s 1967 cinéma vérité masterpiece Don’t Look Back, which chronicles Dylan’s 1965 tour of the U.K., will be shown at 7:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion with faculty members Dr. Chris Magoc and Dr. Jeffrey Roessner. Both events are in Taylor Little Theatre and are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Jeffrey Roessner.
