Dr. Elizabeth Ossoff, chair of the psychology department at Saint Anselm College, will speak on Feb. 9 on "Walking a Tightrope: Confidence, Competence, and Warmth, What Women Face Every Day.” Her presentation begins at 7 p.m. in Mercy Heritage Room and is co-sponsored by Mercyhurst’s psychology department with the Erie chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Two 2014 books - Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead and The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance - have prompted national conversation on an apparent confidence gap between men and women, especially younger women today, a dialogue that inspired this event. Dr. Melissa Heerboth, a Mercyhurst psychology professor specializing in social psychology, will introduce the speaker. The event is free and open to the public.
