Works by photographers living within 100 miles of Erie will be featured in a juried exhibit at Mercyhurst University’s Cummings Gallery Oct. 30-Dec. 15. The artists will be honored at a reception on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the gallery. Juror for the show is Fred Scruton, a photographer, videographer, writer and professor of art who directs the photography program at Edinboro University. A native of the Buffalo, New York, area, he worked as a full-time freelance photographer of art work and architecture in New York City from the early 1980s to 2003. His work has been widely exhibited, including four times at the OK Harris Gallery in Manhattan. Cummings Gallery, located in the lobby of the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center, is open weekdays 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 2-5 p.m. It will be closed Nov. 22-26 during the university’s Thanksgiving break.
