The D’Angelo Department of Music at Mercyhurst University concludes its 2016-17 Faculty Recital Series on April 26 with a performance by the Presque Isle Saxophone Quartet: Dr. Allen Zurcher, soprano saxophone; Bethany Dressler, alto saxophone; Rebecca Wunch, tenor saxophone; and Dr. Scott Meier, baritone saxophone. The quartet will perform at 8 p.m. in Walker Recital Hall. Founded in 2006, the quartet performs a variety of musical styles including standard classical repertoire for saxophone quartet, contemporary classical and jazz-influenced music. The program will include “Quartet for Saxophones” by Elliot Del Borgo; “July” by Michael Torke; “Enchainment” by Robert Mols; and “Afro-Cuban Concerto for Woodwind Quintet” by Valarie Coleman, adapted for saxophone quartet by Allen Zurcher.
