With unparalleled artistry and innovation, Mercyhurst Ballet Theatre and SoMar Dance Works team up again to present an exciting evening of dance. The resident companies bring the best of ballet and contemporary dance to the stage. Themes range from the sublime to the ridiculous, and include classical and contemporary works, a collaboration exploring art and education with local author Mary Arete Moodey and her prize-winning children’s stories, a light-hearted look at food safety and somber reflection on the repeated tragedies of school shootings. The program will also feature special guest artists from the Liaoning Ballet Academy of China. The Saturday evening performance will benefit SafeNet, Erie’s domestic violence safety network, and the Dance Department’s Jenni-Lyn Memorial Scholarship Fund. Following the Friday and Saturday evening performances meet and talk with the dancers and choreographers at the “Talk Back” session.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and $5 for children 12 and younger and Mercyhurst students with ID. For tickets, call 814-824-3000 or visit miac.mercyhurst.edu.
