Gian Carlo Menotti’s short opera, The Medium, tells the ghost story of "Baba," a con artist who promises grieving parents that she, being clairvoyant, can contact their dead children. However, the story becomes interesting when Baba actually starts to hear and see "things." The D’Angelo Opera Theatre performs the opera on Wednesday, Oct. 31 (Halloween) at 9 p.m. in Walker Recital Hall. The cast includes D’Angelo Department of Music faculty members Katherine Soroka and Royce Strider and music students Maria Dombrowski, Gabriel Grey, Abigail Wise and Michele Elleman-Cali. At 8 p.m., a tarot card reader and a psychic will be available in the theatre lobby (readings $5). Drinks and Halloween treats will be available before and after the show. All are encouraged to come in costume and a prize will be awarded to the best. Tickets are $5; Mercyhurst staff and students and those 12 and under $2. For information, call 814-824-2394.
