JOB PROFILE

The Director of Programing is responsible for all decisions and activities for Mercyhurst University at the Booker T Washington Center.  The Director is the primary point of contact for all projects and programs for Mercyhurst University at this location.  Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: pre-enrollment (recruitment and admissions), student issues (financial aid, retention, interface with North East and Erie campuses, and acclimation of students to college), academic programs (program planning, instructors, and courses), and coordination with BTWC on behalf of Mercyhurst University. 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruitment of students
  • Coordinate marketing efforts to increase enrollment at BTW
  • Admissions responsibilities include application, transfer credit review & administering placement exams
  • Assist students with FAFSA and PHEAA to solve the problems to ensure maximum amount of money available to the students.
  • Coordinate with bookstore for textbook orders and the distribution process to students
  • Assist students with academic planning, registration, career counseling and planning, and tutoring
  • Coordinate transfer process to other MU locations or other academic institutions
  • Supervise all MU employees located at the BTW
  • Plan course offerings by time/term/sequence, assist in procurement of adjunct instructors, in conjunction with NE-OAA.
  • Assist adjunct instructors with monitoring students and meeting the Mercyhurst University deadlines and expectations, with assistance from NE-OAA
  • Responsible for all budgets at the BTW Center location
  • Responsible for all assessment activities
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between BTW and other offices within the MCADS and the University as a whole.
  • Serve as a liaison for BTW & the MCADS, which will require travel to multiple campuses on a regular basis.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s Degree required; Master’s in Student Personnel or Business preferred; or 1 to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of higher education practices especially in the areas of admissions, financial aid and academic affairs
  • Good organizational, communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of University departmental procedures
  • Have a team-player outlook
  • Demonstrated record of leadership
  • Presentation skills
  • Knowledge of computers, software programs such as Microsoft Suite.

 

Responsible for all Mercyhurst University activities at the BTWC, including supervision of all MU employees and cooperation with BTWC in all matters related to MU.  Must have the ability to manage a budget, coordinate activities, problem solve, and multi-task.  The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, outside entities as well as other departments across the University is critical.

Ability to work with a variety of people from various backgrounds to determine, with their input, the best approach to higher education.  Knowledge of admissions procedures is needed to facilitate students’ application and acceptance into the University.  General knowledge of financial regulations and practices is necessary to provide financial aid packages to students, with input from the FA office, and to assist students in the FA process.

Ability to develop a schedule of course offerings according to student needs, assign faculty, coordinate tutors, and assist/direct students to resources is needed.
