DJ Fuhrmann – Chief of Police

DJ Fuhrmann began his work at Mercyhurst University in 2016 after retiring from the City of Erie Police Department as Deputy Chief. During his 28 years with the city, he managed small police units as a sergeant before culminating his career as Deputy Chief. He also served as a liaison to other law enforcement agencies, support services and community organizations, and was a member of the SWAT team for seven years. Chief Fuhrmann graduated from Mercyhurst University with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1987. Besides earning a bachelor’s degree, Fuhrmann did advanced studies at the FBI National Academy and the Police Staff and Command School at Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety.



  Roy Ridondelli – Deputy Chief of Police

Deputy Chief Ridondelli has been with Mercyhurst University Police and Safety for several years after retiring from his position as Chief of Police with the Fairview Borough Police Department. Prior to his experience in a leadership position, he gained extensive experience as Patrolman for the North East Borough Police Department and as Adjunct Instructor for the Emergency Services Training Academy. Deputy Chief Ridondelli graduated from the Mercyhurst Police Academy majoring in Criminal Justice, with experience in Municipal Police Training and Lethal Wepons Training to continue his education in the Fire Science Program at the Northwest Pennsylvania Technical Institute. He holds more than 50 different certifications in Law Enforcement.




Paul Joslin – Police Lieutenant / Technology and Safety Specialist

Lieutenant Joslin has over 20 years of experience working for the U.S. Military as well as for Municipal and Campus Law Enforcement. He has been with Mercyhurst since 2004. Prior to working at Mercyhurst, Joslin gained valuable experience in Law Enforcement while working for the West Mead Police Department, Allegheny College, Conneautville Police Department, and Vernon Township Police Department. Lieutenant Joslin graduated from the Military Police Academy in 1987 and continued his education at Edinboro University and at the Municipal Police Academy before he started his professional work in 1997. He has also obtained his associate's degree in criminal justice




Chuck Rosequist – Police Sergeant

Sergeant Rosequist began his law enforement career in 1976, serving in the US Army Military Police Corps. He then served three years in both the Wesleyville Police and Penn State Behrend Police.He served the next 28 years in the North East Police, retiring as Chief in 2010. He has been on board with Mercyhurst Police & Safety since that time.




Brandon Miller/Rico - Police Corporal/K-9 Officer

Corporal Miller graduated from Mercyhurst North East in 2007 with an associates degree in criminal justice. He then attended the Mercyhurst Police Academy in 2009 and was hired as a full-time Police Officer with Mercyhurst in July 2011. He became the department's first K-9 handler in September 2013, where he attended a 6 week K-9 explosive detection course in Philadelphia.

Rico is a Belgian Malinois who was born in Eastern Holland in 2010. He was brought to Philadelphia, Pa in 2013 where he was partnered with Cpl. Brandon Miller and the two attended an intense 6 week explosive detection course. He is trained in explosive/firearm detection, tracking and handler protection. Rico obtains a yearly national certification along with completing a minimum of 16 hours per month of training with Cpl. Miller. He is also one of only two explosive canines in all of Erie County, therefore he and Cpl. Miller respond to all calls/threats outside of the University. When off-duty, Rico resides with Cpl. Miller and his family.
