– Chief of Police / Director of Public Safety.
Chief Kuhn became Mercyhurst's police chief and director of public safety in 2010. He grew up in Erie and earned an accounting degree from Gannon University in 1971. Following a stint in the U.S. Army, he joined the Erie Police Department. He held a variety of posts during his 32 years at EPD, including detective, traffic court administrator, captain of the traffic division and assistant chief. He later spent six years as an Erie County detective, including several years assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (he graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.). During his police career, he also earned a degree in German education from Edinboro University.
– Deputy Chief of Police
Deputy Chief Ridondelli has been with Mercyhurst University Police and Safety for twelve years after retiring from his position as Chief of Police with the Fairview Borough Police Department. Prior to his experience in a leadership position, he gained extensive experience as Patrolman for the North East Borough Police Department and as Adjunct Instructor for the Emergency Services Training Academy.
Deputy Chief Ridondelli graduated from the Mercyhurst Police Academy majoring in Criminal Justice, with experience in Municipal Police Training and Lethal Wepons Training to continue his education in the Fire Science Program at the Northwest Pennsylvania Technical Institute. He holds 49 different certifications in Law Enforcement.
– Police Lieutenant / Technology and Safety Specialist
Lieutenant Platz has worked his way through the ranks of the Mercyhurst Police and Safety Department for several years, in which he gained valuable experience while holding positions such as dispatcher, security officer, graduate assistant, corporal, and technical advisor before accepting the position as Lieutenant in 2010.
Lieutenant Platz graduated from Edinboro University with a degree in Speech Communications in 2001 and added a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Mercyhurst University during his work for the university's Police and Safety department in 2010. He has recently completed Act 120 certification and is now a sworn police officer.
– Police Sergeant
Sergeant Joslin has over 20 years of experience working for the U.S. Military as well as for Municipal and Campus Law Enforcement. He has been with Mercyhurst since 2004 and currently oversees the Mercyhurst North East Police and Safety department. Prior to working at Mercyhurst, Joslin gained valuable experience in Law Enforcement while working for the West Mead Police Department, Allegheny College, Conneautville Police Department, and Vernon Township Police Department. Sergeant Joslin graduated from the Military Police Academy in 1987 and continued his education at Edinboro University and at the Municipal Police Academy before he started his professional work in 1997. He has also obtained his associate's degree in criminal justice.
– Police Corporal
Corporal Pecone started his understanding of law enforcement in 2006. This is when he embarked on a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He completed a 15 week internship at the Allegheny County New York Probation Department to conclude his degree. Upon completion of the Internship he graduated from Edinboro University. When done with school he accepted a full time position with Bethesda Children’s. He worked there for approximately two years ending his employment as an assistant supervisor. He completed his Municipal Police Training Academy at Mercyhurst Northeast. When he completed his training he returned to Bethesda and also received a Police Officer position at a local college. He was hired with the Mercyhurst Police and Safety Department in August of 2012 as a part time police officer. As of July 1st
, 2013 he was promoted to Corporal of the Mercyhurst University Police and Safety Department.

Experience: City of Erie Traffic Court employee for 4 years. Has developed the color coded parking system. Continues to improve the system for registering vehicles on campus.
Experience: 30 years as a Pennsylvania State Police Officer and 18 years as Sergeant with the State Police.
