Commuters

Commuter students bring a unique perspective to the university and we want them to share their energy and enthusiasm by getting involved in some of the wonderful activities and organizations Mercyhurst has to offer. The time that a commuter spends participating in the cultural, spiritual and recreational activities can be as vital to their education as their academic program.

The Campus Involvement Center reaches out to commuter students through the publication and distribution of the Commuter Connection, an email newsletter which provides commuter students with timely information on important campus events.  The Commuter Connection newsletter is a convenient way for busy students to always be connected to campus.  The Center also maintains a dedicated portal site, Just for Commuters, which provides students and families with useful information for a full and successful Mercyhurst experience.

Mercyhurst Commuter Council
– This group provides commuter students with the opportunity to organize on campus events aimed at their needs/interests and additional voices to be united and heard by the campus administration and student government. In addition, it will encourage the commuter students to relate with each other, to overcome and work through common commuter concerns, and to provide a stronger sense of belonging to the Mercyhurst community. This group is designed to promote leadership, while respecting and encouraging the values instilled upon us in the Mercyhurst University Mission Statement.

The Commuter Lounge & Cafe
is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Union. The Commuter Lounge includes a couch, loveseat, comfy chair and workspace area. There are multiple outlets available for students to plug in their laptops and lockers for students to reserve. The Commuter Cafe features a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and dining area. There is also a bulletin board in the Cafe that will highlight on-campus events and important commuter information. The Commuter Lounge & Cafe makes life as a commuter student easier than ever before!

Commuter Lockers – Need a place to store your books, lunch, etc? The Center for Student Engagement & Leadership Development has lockers available for commuter students. To sign out a locker for the academic year, go to the Campus Involvement Center (located on the upper level of the Student Union). Lockers are located on the 2nd floor of the Student Union in the Commuter Lounge and are available on a first come, first serve basis.
