Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination
Guidelines and Criteria for Nomination
Eligibility Requirements
- Athlete must have graduated from Mercyhurst College.
- Athlete must have attended the college for two years.
- Eligible for nomination five years after graduation date.
- Athlete must have contributed significantly to the image of Mercyhurst athletes in an extremely positive fashion.
Nomination Process
- All committee members can nominate athletes.
- The Hall of Fame Committee will hold an initial nomination meeting at which each member can nominate a maximum of two persons to the committee. Members who nominate must provide a one-page personal biography of their nominees.
- There will be a special category for the early athlete.
- A person who was not an athlete or not a graduate of Mercyhurst can be nominated if over a significant period of time that person has contributed greatly to Mercyhurst athletics in an extremely positive fashion.
- A whole team can be nominated after five years. The team will be listed on one plaque as a single selection for that Hall of Fame year.
Selection Process
- After nominations and biographies are collected and dispersed to all members, the chairman will call a selection meeting.
- At the selection meeting, two votes will take place.
- All members must vote for the top eight nominees for its initial list. Top vote getters will be eligible for final vote.
- All members must vote for the top three nominees.
- In order to be selected an athlete must receive at least 70 percent of the vote of the committee members.
- Maximum number of five inductees per year.
