Guidelines and Criteria for Nomination
Criteria
The mission statement of the college will be the primary source for nomination of candidates.
Nomination process
Announcement in Mercyhurst publications and on the college Web site stating that nominations are being accepted and providing the guidelines for eligibility.
Award Categories
- Outstanding achievement in a chosen field
- Outstanding service to Mercyhurst College
- Outstanding service to his/her community
- Outstanding Young Alumnus (a graduate of no more than 15 years)
- Sister Carolyn Herrmann Award (rarely conferred, extraordinary/exceptional achievement)
Selection Process
- Letter and informational sheet mailed to nominees from the alumni services office
- Initial screening by the director of alumni services
- Review by alumni board selection committee (members appointed by the board president)
- Vote by all board members at spring meeting
- Only one winner per category
- Winner MUST be present to accept the award at Homecoming
- An alternate will be selected in each category in the event the first person chosen cannot attend
