The Catherine McAuley Scholarship
Catherine McAuley Scholarships help make the cost of a Mercyhurst education more affordable to a greater number of adult students. The Catherine McAuley Scholarship is awarded on the basis of a student's demonstrated financial need.
To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must: complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1 and enroll as a full time adult undergraduate student through Mercyhurst University.
Applications are accepted from adults who have never before attended college, and also from applicants who have previously attended college but have not earned a four-year degree.
All eligible adult applicants to Mercyhurst University will automatically be considered for this scholarship. No further application is necessary.
The Encore Scholarships are awarded to eligible adults who currently hold an associates degree. The award helps to reduce the cost of completing a bachelor's degree through the Mercyhurst Adult College.
To be considered for this financial aid award, applicants must hold an associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university and earned a grade point of average of 2.5 or above. The degree must have been earned prior to July 2008.
If accepted to Mercyhurst, students must attend on a full time basis. (Day, evening and weekend classes are available). The scholarship covers up to 60 credit hours.
All eligible adult applicants to Mercyhurst University will automatically be considered for an Encore Scholarship. No further application is necessary. Applications are accepted for the fall and spring semesters.
There is no application deadline, but early applications are encouraged.
"University Try" Fund
The "University Try" Fund enables adult students to pay significantly reduced tuition for refresher courses in college writing, math and critical reading. These courses will help prepare students for future success as adult college students. The reduced tuition is available without regard to financial need.
The reduction will apply only to designated refresher courses. These courses must be completed during the student's first year of study at Mercyhurst. Both full time and part time students are eligible for awards.
All adult students will automatically qualify for the tuition reduction. No further application is necessary.
