Adjunct Faculty - Biology

Job Description

Mercyhurst University North East Campus is seeking applicants for our adjunct position pool in the Biology department. This pool of applicants will be utilized throughout the 2012-2013 academic year. The Biology department is seeking enthusiastic and capable candidates who will teach any of the introductory and advanced (associate degree level) human biology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology/microorganisms, and pathophysiology lectures and lab instruction for students with varying abilities and lab instruction for students with varying abilities. Applicants should know how to use and develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods to engage student interest and achievement, and she/he should be knowledgeable on intervention and remediation methods to ensure student success and retention.


Job Summary

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Biology from an accredited institution and at least three years of professional teaching experience in a higher education environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proven experience with course delivery utilizing active multi-sensory learning; ability to utilize technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others; demonstrated ability to effectively provide a variety of instructional strategies and techniques; proven competency in subject matter expertise and an ability to effectively convey expertise to students; ability to create and maintain a technology enhanced learning environment, ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and varying age levels. May be required to teach evening or weekend classes and possibly summer session classes as the need arises.
