Athletic Training Major
The athletic training major at Mercyhurst is about combining strong, science-based knowledge with the most current evidence-based practices to treat the physically active population, as well as exploring the physicality of the human body. Mercyhurst students learn how to work in emergency situations to provide critical, live-saving care. They also learn how to get the phsycally active — from athletes, military personnel to the weekend warrior — back on his/her feet following an injury, illness or surgery. Mercyhurst provides students with an education that leads to a career that fuels their passion for helping people with a variety of roles in numerous work settings.
The mission of the Athletic Training Education Program at Mercyhurst is to provide students with the necessary didactic and psychomotor competencies, clinical proficiencies and experiences required to sit for the BOC examination. In the spirit of the core values of Mercyhurst, athletic training students become well-rounded, educated, professional and ethical trainers prepared to enter the allied health field.
