Clubs & Organizations

  • Hospitality management students who excel academically may be invited to join Eta Sigma Delta (ESD), the is the international hospitality and tourism honor society. It is affiliated with CHRIE (Council on Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Education). To be eligible for membership in the Mercyhurst Chapter of ESD, a student must be a junior or senior and rank in the top 20 percent of the HRIM class.
  • The Hospitality Management Association (HMA) is a service organization where students participate in educational enrichment opportunities (sales blitz activities with nationally recognized chains, speakers and field trips), which aid in the enhancement of their knowledge of the hospitality industry. Working closely with the faculty and staff, fundraising events are scheduled throughout the year to benefit a variety of club and department activities.
  • The role of our National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH) chapter is to educate all students to aid in the recruitment, retention, support and advancement of minority students in the hospitality industry. Through education, we encourage students to recognize and break down boundaries of differences amongst people different from themselves.
  • The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) student chapter was formed to increase management awareness of meetings and conventions, to broaden their scope of activity, refine their educational pursuits, and to expand the training base for students interested in the meeting and convention field.
