If you are fascinated by the past, Mercyhurst University’s history program can help prepare you for a successful future. Our wide-ranging and challenging curriculum will equip you with the skills employers seek: the ability to conduct thorough research; analyze and weigh evidence; and produce sound conclusions orally and in writing.

History majors leave Mercyhurst prepared to pursue successful careers as teachers, researchers, journalists, attorneys, non-profit or public service professionals or historians in the public and private sectors, among many other career tracks. Our history graduates are finding careers as historic site directors, museum curators, historic preservation specialists, teachers, tour guides and more. The dedicated and accomplished faculty of our program will help you succeed through excellent instruction, one-on-one attention in small classes and personalized advising.

Students also have multiple opportunities for academic enrichment and personal development beyond the classroom through domestic and overseas travel experiences and internships at some of the finest historic sites in the country, and local and regional history projects that make a real difference for students and the communities in which they are working.
