Carpe Diem Academy

Help your child seize today—and all their tomorrows.

Carpe Diem—which means “seize the day” in Latin and is the official motto of Mercyhurst University—is the spirit guiding the innovative academic enrichment centers for K-2 students at seven schools within the Erie School District.

Made possible by the strong support of the Erie School District and a three-year 21st Century Community Learning Center grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education totaling $1.5 million, Carpe Diem Academy centers feature a combination of innovative, skill building lessons and engaging activities that will help children learn, develop healthy habits and meet state and local academic standards. Children will benefit in a number of ways—including improving their reading, writing and math skills, learning how to use an iPad, participating in dance, theater and music activities, and more.

The Carpe Diem Academy is cutting-edge, enriching and—since it is funded by a generous grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education—available at no cost to parents who wish to enroll their child(ren).
