Visual Communication
Creative. Inspired. Innovative. Does this describe you? The visual communication concentration puts students' creative design skills to work while preparing them for a successful career in the professional communication field.
Visual communication students will learn the foundation of communication theory and process to provide clear, consistent messages. Students will also learn the necessary creative and technical skills to design for print and multimedia. The program focuses on the importance of the Internet and new technology as well as techniques for traditional outlets.
The program gives students the opportunity to create projects relevant to advertising, public relations, marketing, the software industry and media. Students acquire skills in areas such as graphic design principles, publication and web design, as well as emerging technologies.
Course Requirements
In addition to the common core requirements, visual communication students must take the following courses:
- Art 221 Digital Imagery
- Art 320 Type and Publication Design
- Art 321 Introduction to Website Design
- Art 322 Corporate Identity and Branding OR Comm 392 Communication Campaigns
- Comm 430 Magazine Editing and Design
- Art or Comm approved elective
