  • Our instrumentation currently includes:
    • Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS)
    • High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC)
    • Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AA)
    • Fourier transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR)
    • Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (NMR)
    • Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) Spectrometer (Few schools have this).
  • The department houses research-grade high performance computing resources for a unique experience in Computational Science.
  • Members of our department have received several external grants for undergraduate research and curriculum. This recently included the funds to purchase a bank of solar panels, which were installed on the front grounds of Mercyhurst College.
  • 67 percent of our graduates have gone on to attend graduate or professional schools.
