Advanced Certificate in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management

This program offers a unique and challenging opportunity for college graduates to qualify for professional or management positions in the hotel or restaurant fields, as well as in the management of hospitality, foodservice, facilities or similar functions in hospital, school, college, retirement community, other settings.

The Mercyhurst HRIM program has enjoyed an excellent reputation in the industry for over 27 years and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration. Mercyhurst was the first private liberal arts college in the country to receive this distinction. Students may concentrate in hotel or resort management, restaurant/foodservice management, convention management or clubhouse/golf course management. Students are provided with hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to practice their skills in actual service settings.

A maximum of two three-credit courses completed during the last ten years may be applied toward the Certificate in lieu of equivalent required courses. All students must demonstrate computer competency or meet this requirement by completing Computer Applications (MIS 101).

Admissions Requirements

B.A. or B.S. degree with an overall GPA of at least 2.5.

Admissions Procedures

Have official college transcripts sent to the Office of Adult & Graduate Programs. Submit a completed Advanced Certificate Application, along with a $30 application fee**.
