Advanced Certificate in Graphic Design
Graphic designers plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to communications problems. They use a variety of print, electronic and film media and technologies to execute designs that meet clients' communication needs. They consider cognitive, cultural, physical and social factors in executing designs that are appropriate for a given context.
This 37 credit program provides a sound education in graphic design theory, technology and application. Students completing the certificate will be well versed in industry standard software, including PhotoShop, Freehand, Dreamweaver, Flash and Quark on the industry accepted platform of MacIntosh. As a culminating experience, students will develop a professional level portfolio and personal promotional materials.
Students who enroll in two or more courses each term should be able to complete the certificate in two years. All students must demonstrate computer competency or meet this requirement by completing Computer Applications (MIS 101) prior to enrolling in Introduction to Graphic Design (Art 220).
