Dr. Johnson holds a Ph.D. and MA in Theatre from the University of Missouri in Columbia and a BA in Theatre from Susquehanna University. His primary research interests include American musical theatre, Tennessee Williams, and acting pedagogy, and his scholarship has appeared in such publications as Theatre Journal, Theatre History Studies, Ecumenica, and The Grove Dictionary of American Music. Dr. Johnson’s directing credits include productions of Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann’s Urinetown: The Musical, Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice, William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Tennessee Williams’s Vieux Carré, and Mary Barile’s The Irish Rogue, for which he received the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival award for Achievement in Directing. Dr. Johnson teaches courses in acting, directing, theatre history, dramatic literature, and theatre appreciation.
