Mercyhurst Theatre Program

The Mercyhurst Theatre Program provides students with the aesthetic, analytical, and interpersonal skills necessary for productive lives of leadership and service.

A minor in Theatre is available to all Mercyhurst students. Courses in acting, theatre history, dramatic literature, and technical theatre offer a breadth of knowledge about the discipline, while electives allow students to develop proficiency in one area. Classes are small, enabling students to receive individualized instruction.

An eclectic production season provides numerous opportunities for students to develop their skills as performers, designers, and technicians in a wide repertoire of classic and contemporary plays and musicals. Recent productions include Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl and Urinetown: The Musical by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann.

Students also have an opportunity to work closely with guest artists. Most recently, Tony Award-winning dancer/actress/singer Chita Rivera visited Mercyhurst, where she shared her knowledge and experience with theatre and dance students and participated in an onstage conversation about her legendary career.
