Course Requirements
The accounting programs in the graduate school at Mercyhurst University are designed to provide a professional level of knowledge at the level of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Mercyhurst offers three options and evening classes to best meet the goals, needs and schedules of working students.
All of the graduate accounting courses will be held evenings from 5:30 to 9:45 p.m. beginning in the Winter Term, usually on Wednesday night.
OPTION 1: GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING
- ACCT 610 Auditing and Attestation (AUD)
- ACCT 630 Business Environment and Concepts (BEC)
- ACCT 650 Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR)
- ACCT 635 Regulation (REG)

OPTION 2: MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP WITH ACCOUNTING CONCENTRATION
In addition to the four accounting courses required for the graduate certificate (listed above), you will take seven core courses as part of the Organizational Leadership curriculum:
- Leadership Theory and Practice
- Leadership and Organizational Behavior
- Research Methods
- Organizational Ethics
- Leadership and Information Technologies
- Financial Operations and Analysis
- Thesis or research-based project
