Accounting

The accounting programs in the graduate school at Mercyhurst University are designed to provide professional knowledge at the level of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Mercyhurst offers two options and evening classes to best meet the goals, needs and schedules of working students. The college also offers an undergraduate major and minor in accounting.

(1) Graduate Certificate in Accounting

The Graduate Certificate in Accounting is a one-year, four-course (12-credit) program designed to provide knowledge at the level of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). The certificate in accounting prepares students to be successful contributors and leaders in the field of accounting. Our curriculum is modeled after and uses materials from the Wiley CPA review. At the end of this four-course program, individuals will be prepared for the CPA exam. These courses may be applied toward a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership in the future.

(2) Master of Science in Organizational Leadership with Accounting Concentration

You may also choose to enroll in the Organizational Leadership graduate program with an accounting concentration. You will receive a professional level of accounting knowledge, be prepared to take the CPA exam, and gain invaluable knowledge in the area of leadership that will prepare you for a leadership role in your organization. The master’s program is a 33-credit (11-course) program that can be completed in two years. In addition to the four accounting courses required for the graduate certificate, you will take seven core courses as part of the Organizational Leadership curriculum.
