Meet the Counselors
Applicants to Mercyhurst North East can rest assured that they are dealing with an experienced, hard-working staff that values honesty, integrity and customer service. We know how stressful the college search can be, and we are always looking for ways to make it easier for you.
Each counselor is in charge of specific programs. Associate Vice President of Enrollment
Travis Lindahl has been working at Mercyhurst North East since May of 2006, after 5 ½ years of admissions service at the Erie campus, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in organizational leadership. Travis is responsible for planning the office’s recruiting efforts and the awarding of financial aid to new students. Originally from Madison, OH, he enjoys spending time with his wife and taking his dog for walks. During the snowless months in Erie, you’ll find him riding his bicycle or reading in his hammock.

Cheryl Sandberg has been working at Mercyhurst North East since December of 2005. She is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia with a bachelor’s degree in English and Gannon University with a master’s degree in counseling. A native of Jamestown, N.Y., Cheryl has been a resident of North East for more than 20 years and works with the applicants to our PTA, MLT, RT, OTA, early childhood education and medical office management programs. When not reading or gardening, Cheryl enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs and cat.

Biography: Kathy Hill has been working at Mercyhurst North East since October of 2006. She is a graduate of Westminster College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. A native of Wattsburg, Pa., Kathy works with applicants to our business, criminal justice, hospitality, culinary and computer programs. When not spending time with her sister’s triplets, Kathy enjoys cooking, kayaking and hanging out with friends.
Biography: Amanda Firch has been working at Mercyhurst North East since March 2014. She is a graduate of Edinboro University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. A native of Erie, PA, Amanda is currently responsible for working with students interested in the Liberal Arts department. Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends outside of work.

Colleen Lanigan has been working at Mercyhurst North East since December 2007. She is a graduate of Mercyhurst College with a bachelor’s degree in social work. A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Colleen works with all of our practical nursing students, and assists with recruiting for the registered nursing program. When not helping students, Colleen enjoys riding her bicycle (she’s a certified spin instructor) and reading for fun.

Denise has been working at Mercyhurst North East since August of 2004. She is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in management. A native of Erie, Denise manages the application information and communication functions, such as sending accept letters and confirmation packets. When not traveling the country, Denise enjoys spending time with her two dogs and golfing.
Biography: Adam has been working at Mercyhurst North East since May of 2013. He is a graduate of Mercyhurst University receiving both a bachelor’s degree in business in 2008 and a master’s degree in organizational leadership in 2011. Adam is responsible for working with prospective practical nursing students and high school seniors aspiring to pursue the registered nursing program. Originally from Cleveland, Oh., Adam enjoys spending time with family and friends and maintaining an active lifestyle.
