Crime and Intelligence Analysis Concentration
As law enforcement agencies struggle with limited resources, the need for improved crime and intelligence analysis has increased. Mercyhurst College has been the leader in intelligence analysis training for nearly 20 years and as a result, successfully put together this outstanding opportunity for students looking to enter the intelligence field. This program of study trains students to design and apply strategies required for solving modern problems that challenge crime and intelligence analysts daily. The curriculum focuses on skill development in collecting and analyzing crime data to forecast criminal profiles, documenting illicit relationships between people, organizations and events, and using statistical techniques to solve crime.
What can I do with this degree?
The goal of the program is to provide students with a course of study that prepares them to learn, and apply, the strategies and techniques that constitute the art and science of crime analysis. Upon completing this program, students will be prepared for entry-level positions in various areas of the criminal justice system. With experience, one may qualify for promotion to higher-level supervisory positions.
This associate degree was designed for seamless transition into the Erie Campus's intelligence studies bachelor's degree program. Those students go on to careers as analysts with various federal agencies and private defense contracting firms, as well as in business and finance.
