The faculty of Mercyhurst University has carefully designed the Advanced Certificate in Interior Design for college graduates with a background in related fields. Ideal candidates are those who want to update their skills, advance to a new position, prepare for a career change, or become eligible for the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) Exam pending approval from NCIDQ. Career counseling/advising by the program director, an NCIDQ certified designer, is offered to all participants in the program.

• Advanced standing and waiver of certain courses is available upon review and approval of design portfolio and design course transcripts. In these instances, candidates will be required to complete at least 30 credits.
• Students may complete an optional internship (ID 495) to gain work experience.
REQUIREMENTS: An applicant must be a graduate of an accredited college or university with a B.A. or B.S. degree. Please submit official transcripts indicating the degree earned. The student must maintain a GPA of 2.5 with a minimum C grade in each course. An appointment with the Interior Design Department Chair is recommended prior to beginning any courses in the advanced certificate.
