Advanced Certificate in Art Therapy

The 30-credit Advanced Certificate in Art Therapy is designed for returning students possessing a BA/BS degree in Art, Art Education, or Human Service fields. The Certificate prepares students for a number of different career opportunities in areas such as activity therapy, creativity arts experiences, arts and crafts, and counseling positions at human service agencies and in school systems.

Students in Advanced Certificate program follow the same guidelines and educational standards of the American Art Therapy Association. Students in the program are prepared for study at the graduate level in Art Therapy.

The course work can be completed in two years of study, taking two classes a term.

Admissions Requirements

An bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree in Art, Art Education, or Human Service fields with an overall GPA of at least 2.5.

Prospective students must meet with the director of the Art Therapy program to present the intent of his or her interest in the program prior to being admitted.
