Spring '08 groundbreaking for MNE residence hall

March 17, 2008. This view, looking south toward Mercyhurst North East, shows the field where the new residence hall for 75 students will be built this spring.
This spring, the college expects to break ground on an estimated $3 million residence hall. The two-story brick structure will be situated directly north of the existing eight-unit townhouse building and encompass 22,000 square feet. The design will accommodate 75 students in a suite setting.
Mercyhurst North East Executive Vice President Dr. Gary Brown said the new residence hall will enable the college to reclaim classroom space in Miller Hall, which had been converted to student housing to accommodate resident-student enrollment.

May 5, 2008. Earth movers begin work preparing the site where the new Mercyhurst North East residence hall will be constructed.

May 19, 2008. The first floor walls are being constructed on the new residence hall at MNE.

May 29, 2008. A large crane begins setting the steel floor planks for the new residence hall.

June 10, 2008. Concrete blocks are being laid for the second floor walls..

July 2, 2008. The exterior walls of the new residence hall are almost complete and the roof is being constructed.

July 14, 2008. The exterior of the residence hall is nearing completion, with crews laying shingles on the roof.
