Visiting Assistant Professor - Intelligence Studies

 

Job Description

Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professorship in the Department of Intelligence Studies for the 2014-2015 academic year.  The position begins September 4, 2014 and has the possibility of renewal as a full-time tenure-track faculty position.

Skills And Responsibilities

Applicants should possess a Ph.D., other terminal degree, and/or significant experience in a discipline related to intelligence studies (ABDs are encouraged to apply).  Special attention will be given to those applicants with practitioner experience and the ability to manage applied analytic projects.  In addition to instruction, duties will include curriculum development, service to the profession, and participation in University and Institute activities. The selected candidate must demonstrate a commitment to scholarly activity and publication in the intelligence studies field.

Successful candidates will have the qualifications to teach introductory theoretical and applied courses in intelligence analysis at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in addition to the ability to teach undergraduate or graduate courses in at least one but preferably both of the following areas:

  •  Intelligence in Business: traditional competitive intelligence, intelligence support to corporate security and threat management, and/or AML analysis for financial institutions

  • Predictive Analytics: information management for exploring, visualizing, processing and analyzing very large data sets; predictive modeling; and/or analytic reporting.
