The Walker School of Business and Communication at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa, invites applications for a full-time tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Communication. Applicants should have a terminal degree in communication or a closely related field (ABDs are encouraged to apply), a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship, and overall abilities to contribute to and lead a progressive undergraduate program in communication. Individuals with a master's degree and significant experience in the field will also be considered.
The position carries with it a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience. The normal annual teaching load is 24 credit hours at the undergraduate level in the communication department which may include communication core courses and courses that focus on video editing and social media strategies. Experience in professional news or corporate videography and social media experience is preferred. Successful candidate will have knowledge of a non-linear editing system (e.g., Final Cut, Adobe Premier or a comparable system). This position will teach general communication courses in addition to video editing and social media courses. Applicant should be conversant in the theory and practice of new media and social media and be able to contribute to the Department's development of an innovative program in these emerging technologies.
