Peter J. Benekos, Ph.D., University of Akron, is a professor of Criminal Justice and Sociology with a specialty in juvenile justice and corrections. He is a former corrections counselor with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections in both prison and community-based corrections settings. He has conducted research and published in the areas of juvenile justice, corrections, and public policy, and he is the co-author of The Juvenile Justice System: Delinquency, Processing, and the Law, 7th edition, and co-editor of Controversies in Juvenile Justice & Delinquency, 2nd edition, and Crime Control, Politics, and Policy, 2nd edition.
