Dr. Gillespie is an associate professor and the founding chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. She began her teaching experience in physician assistant education in 1998, first as a clinical coordinator, then associate director. As a physician assistant, she has been clinically active since 1984 in various fields of medicine to include women’s health, pediatrics, family practice and emergency medicine. Dr. Gillespie continues to practice as a physician assistant part-time in a primary care setting and in emergency medicine. Dr. Gillespie has been active within the physician assistant profession at both the national and state level. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants.
